We did 2 days tour. We were lucky to get last minute trip with 30% reduction, nevertheless, the general prices (not only with this company) in general appeared to high as for the general price level in Vietnam. During our tour the people were extremely friendly, the boat is not the newest one, but in a relatively good shape. The room was clean and nice, the food was good. You are not bored during the whole trip, there were excursions and the cooking class, so we enjoyed it!
We visited Halong Bay and stayed on Halong Violet on their so called 2 day 1 night tour. Clean, new and comfortable SUV with good driver. I would definitely recommend them. We stayed on Halong Violet a junk that accommodates only 12 people. I was in the Phoenix suite which was very nice, four poster bed and spa bath, mini bar, wall to ceiling windows. I would recommend Halong Violet. It wasn't cheap but I believe it is as luxurious as you are probably going to get. The food was very nice and was plentiful. There are plenty of activities if you are so inclined. We visited a fishing village and took a ride on a bamboo boat ( personally I would pass on that excursion and just enjoy the junk whilst everyone else is off it), and visited a cave which the Halong junk people intend to use in the future to host dinners. Dinner was al a carte and there was a choice of 5 mains, which I found surprising and a reasonable but pricey wine list. In the morning, Tai chi, a cooking demo (very simple spring rolls - but it was fun)' kayaking and various other activities were offered. The junk business is highly competitive and there are a lot of junks on the water, some of them pretty large and accommodating large groups. The Halong Cruise people were keen to discuss their future plans and look for future development opportunities as they recognise the competitive environment. Halong Bay itself had been on my " to visit" list for a number of years. The drive from Hanoi to Halong takes about 3 hours and is dull, there is little to see. Halong is very obviously being developed as a tourist destination which large, new hotels lining the bay and tour buses everywhere. The Bay itself is quite pretty but I wasn't overwhelmed by it. It is quite polluted and there is an abundance of junks on it and they all seem to stick together, so it wasn't a secluded relaxing experience. One night was definitely enough and I don't see myself going back. I have now crossed it off the list
Wow it is so beautiful and truly stun. I and my mom were very surprise with its beauty and natural atmosphere as well as the environment in here.
We have just returned from a 2N3D trip on "Violet". I agree with many other comments already made. The organisation is very good i.e pick up from Hanoi hotel to boat etc. The food was above average (apart from the breakfast pastries) and they do "run out" of things which seems to be a euphemism for "don't have"!! The staff are all very friendly. The weather will "make or break" this trip, if the sun is shining you can forgive almost anything, sit back and enjoy what is undoubtably a truly fascinating and beautiful bay, if it is raining I am afraid the faults on the boat are far more apparent e.g the flaking paint, poor workmanship and cleanliness etc. I understand this is the best boat in the bay at the moment.
We participated in a 3-day tour on Violet Cruise with Halong Luxury company last week. We got a pickup at half past 8 AM from Hanoi and got there at 11:30. They gave us some relaxation on board with a delicious lunch and light musics while the boat set sails. After a short break, the boat anchored in a secluded beach for passengers get down and swim. The beach was totally private with some small natural pools on the shore for kids. The water was silent, we felt more like swimming in a lake than in the sea. The huge islets all around make the swim priceless. We got back onto the boat to continue the trip just when we realised that our room was just like a 5-star hotel room with a splendid kingsize bed and wide windows all around that provided a paranomic view to Halong bay right from cozy bed. The bathroom had a big bathtub with hot water and all the luxurious toiletries in a hotel. I would recommend this tour because they planned it so well. We could both relax and enjoy some active activities like kayaking and exploring the hidden caves in Halong that we never felt bored
Well, what to say now, it just have been like that from the moment we arrived here until now. We were stunned by its beauty, nature, fresh atmosphere and environment. It looks much better than any of its picture and exactly word for is that it is a real dreamy picture. From what we have been through in this lovely country, we had a quite nice and different imagination about it from what knew before. Just perfect!!!
“ It's very well designed and very comfortable. The cabins are good sized and in room facilities are excellent. Great food and a nice variety. The only thing I would recommend is that you offer tea & coffee after the evening meal when serving desert. The staff are very friendly, helpful, polite and very well-dressed. Nothing is too much trouble. Brilliant staff. Visit to the villages are fascinating and provide a good insight into the life of the ordinary people. It was really fantastic. The whole experience was great. ”
Our trip was wonderful! Couldn’t have asked for better. Our driver was prompt and very polite. Even though we didn’t speak the same language we both knew the word “music” and he had some good CDs! It made the trip go faster. The Jsamine Cruise was excellent. The guides on boat were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful as could be. The room was great and the food superb! It wasn’t cheap but it was worth every cent! Hightly recommend you!
Spent a night on Halong Bay on the Violet. It was supposed to be launched in November 2009 but it aint holding up too well! Very tired and in need of repair. A fairly expensive experience at around $500US a night. It amazes me that there is no hot water on the boat during summer yet they have a spa in the bathroom! The food was just OK with possibly the worst pastries I've ever had for "pre breakfast". They must microwave them - absolutely horrible..
