There was a yummy lunch as weiled amongst the hundreds of limestone islands in the bay. We were taken in bamboo boats to a fishing village and then a pearl farm. A couple of brave souls tried out the kayaks. The rainy season meant the water was a bit cold. We had been travelling with our own guide and driver for almost 2 weeks so I loved the chnace to meet and socialise with other travellers from around the world over diner and a few drinks. After a quick breakfast the next morning the boat's tender took us to Surprise Cave. Huge, beautiful and even more of nature at its best. This was follwoed by a yummy brunch before check out and being returned to shore. I loved the service with great food choices and a comfortable boat to enjoy this amazing place in a stunning country.
The rooms are beautiful, the service is excellent, the staff are friendly, entertaining and professional, and the food was absolutely delicious and very artistic. They went out of their way to make sure our experience was perfect. My husband and our wedding guests from Australia had an unbelievable time, we only wish we had booked a longer trip. But maybe a good excuse to come back.
We were not lucky with the weather unfortunately ... check if you can before you book. But the crew really made the best efforts to make us comfortable incl. providing us with rain-proof clothing for kayaking. The natural beauty is amazing ... with the fog it seamed like the Asian painting my aunt used to hang in her living room ... unfortunately. Despite never seeing a ray of sun during the entire stay ... it was quite enjoyable as we met nice people and the crew really tried their best to make us happy.
We are a family of two adults and two teenage children and we took a three-day Paloma cruise in December, 2011. We would never go on a cruise holiday, but this mini-cruise was one of the best things we have ever done. From the moment we boarded the boat, showered with rose petals and served mint tea, we knew we were in for a treat. Our three days were filled with just the right balance of action and rest. There were plenty of activities on and off the boat, but ample time to soak up the beautiful views on the comfy deckchairs with a cocktail.
We did a 3 day / 2 night cruise with Paloma. The tour and the company were great and our review matches that of other reviewers. They were on time to pick us up from the hotel in Hanoi. They presented us with multiple welcome drinks during our stay and the rose petal reception was a very colorful welcome. I'm a vegetarian and with limited notice they whipped up a nice spread. You will see way more food than you can eat and we definitely indulged during the trip. You must pay for drinks on the boat but their happy hour is a great deal with two for one drinks. Our excursions included kayaking, cave and a bicycle village tour. All were very nice and enjoyable. The staff was very helpful in each of these activities.
